Louisiana Delta Community College operates the only American Welding Society (AWS) ATF accredited welder test facility is in Northeast Louisiana (AWS Accredited Lab Certificate No.: 140407), and one of only three centers in the state. In addition to its base test facilities located at our West Monroe campus, 609 Vocational Parkway, we also provide mobile on-site welder qualification testing. This enables us to certify welders on your facility.
Mobile services can be made available throughout Louisiana, and in Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas by contacting Thomas Crain, AWS Certified Inspector, at 318-397-6173, or by emailing AWScertification@ladelta.edu.
The American Welding Society was founded in 1919 as a non-profit organization to "advance the science, technology and application of welding and allied joining and cutting processes, including brazing, soldering and thermal spraying." Today the AWS offers a variety of certifications for welders, inspectors engineers and educators among many others. The AWS CW, or Certified Welder, is generally considered the gold standard in welding today.
The AWS Accredited Test Facility program establishes minimum requirements for test facilities, their personnel, and equipment to qualify for accreditation to test and qualify welders.
Entrusting welder certification to ATF specialists makes good business sense for contractors and fabricators. More and more companies have realized the shortcomings of self-qualification and discovered the advantages of utilizing AWS Accredited Test Facilities to test and qualify welders. ATFs help them to save money, improve productivity, and reduce liability by entrusting their welder certification to the experts.
