Mission

The mission of the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program is to provide Northeast Louisiana communities with graduates prepared to become registered nurses. The program is devoted to developing each nursing student’s ability to be professional and accountable critical thinkers, skilled in decision-making. Utilizing innovative education dedicated to student success, the nursing faculty are committed to fostering academic excellence. Academic excellence is exhibited through guiding and preparing safe, competent, and compassionate caregivers, grounded by the programs’ values, beliefs, and organizing structure.

Program Description

The ASN programs’ philosophy on nursing education is founded on faculty shared beliefs. The faculty believe that quality nursing education involves gaining knowledge through interprofessional learning opportunities and culturally sensitive behaviors which transpire through community partnerships. Professionalism in nursing practice compels students to demonstrate accountability and maintain the highest level of integrity. The beliefs derived from faculty governance support lifelong learning and promotion of professional growth and healthcare advocacy through participation in local, state and national nursing organizations.
