LPN-RN FAST TRACK

Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) LPN-RN Fast Track Program is a limited admission program. Applicants are selected utilizing a nursing admission rubric. Classes are selected from the qualified pool of applicants with the highest scores. Applicants not selected must maintain eligibility and re-apply for admission consideration for a future term.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) pre-admission exam is required. Applicants must achieve 60% or greater on the TEAS test to be eligible to apply to the program. Additionally, LPN applicants must take the LPN STEP Test as an admissions assessment. This assessment is required and does not impact admission eligibility.

Application Procedure
  1. Complete the general admission process to LDCC.
  2. Schedule a day and time to take the TEAS V* and/or the LPN STEP Test.
  3. Complete a Program application.
  4. Turn in application and all other relevant documentation on or before established deadline*.

Application Requirements

To be eligible for application to the Program, applicants must:

  • Be unconditionally admitted to LDCC.
  • Be willing to incur the cost of physical exam with lab tests, books, uniforms, background check, tuition and fees, professional liability insurance, and other associated program costs.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher (please see Repeating Course Work policy in the Academic Catalog).
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.7 in the five pre-required courses, which are:
    • BIOL 221  —  Human Anatomy & Physiology I
    • BIOL 223  —  Human Anatomy & Physiology I Lab
    • ENGL 101  —  English Composition I
    • MATH 110  —  College Algebra
    • PSYC 201  —  Intro to Psychology
  • Must attain a minimum of “C” in each of the prerequisite courses for enrollment into the program.

    PLEASE NOTE: applicants are strongly encouraged to complete non-nursing course, identified on the degree sheet (please link to degree sheet), prior to enter the first semester of the professional nursing program (prior to enrollment in NURS 112).

  • LPN-RN applicants must have completed the following courses with a final grade of “C” or higher, in addition to the prerequisite courses above. These courses must not be older than five years. These science courses are:
    • BIOL 221  —  Human Anatomy & Physiology I
    • BIOL 223  —  Human Anatomy & Physiology I Lab
    • BIOL 222  —  Human Anatomy & Physiology II
    • BIOL 224  —  Human Anatomy & Physiology II Lab
    • BIOL 210  —  Microbiology
    • BIOL 211  —  Microbiology Lab
  • If selected, applicants must take NURS 132 and successfully pass the course in order to advance to the clinical portion of the program.
Selection Process

Selection for admission into the program uses an objective point system and is based on a comparative evaluation of GPA, test scores, transcript, and other application information. The Nursing Admissions Scoring Rubric provides for a total score of 100 points. The highest scoring applicants are offered admission to the program
