Extending a hand is nothing new or unfamiliar to chef extraordinaire, Cory Bahr. From starting community orchards and planting fruit trees in blighted neighborhoods and schools in Louisiana, in hopes to provide access to fresh fruit and eco-literacy to thousands of area children to teaching at-risk teens and young adults the skills they need to succeed in jobs in the restaurant business and now, coordinating a higher education culinary competition for aspiring chefs!
“Louisiana Delta Community College encourages this level of involvement and investment from the communities we serve. We are thrilled Cory is supporting LDCC in hosting SkillsUSA for the very first time,” shared W. Dennis Epps, Chancellor of LDCC. In fact, the College prides itself on partnerships to enhance and enrich the student experience. The culinary competition is a long-time favorite in the list of available SkillsUSA options and has to be capped for participation.
The 2020 SkillsUSA Competition will be held March 25-27. The competition typically draws three to four hundred visitors from across the state.
