For the first time ever in Louisiana Community and Technical College history, the state Competition for SkillsUSA will be hosted in northeast Louisiana. The Monroe and West Monroe Campuses of Louisiana Delta Community College will be the host sites for all competitions, except the culinary competition. For this one, it is LDCC’s honor for the 2012 Food Network’s Chopped Champion, Food & Wine's "People's Best New Chef" in America, Taste of the South's "Taste 50" and the 2011 "King of Louisiana Seafood" and Louisiana Cookin' "Chef to Watch," Cory Bahr to host this competition in his kitchen!
“We’re very excited to be able to bring SkillsUSA to our region and Chef Cory Bahr to SkillsUSA,” shares W. Dennis Epps, Chancellor of Louisiana Delta Community College. “This is great for the students who compete and economically advantageous for the Twin Cities. It’s our hope that local business owners drown us in coupons and discounts to drive our guests to their operations. People eat and enjoy being entertained and we’ve got plenty of that here!”
Community College students from all across the state will descend upon our borders to eat, sleep, shop, be entertained and of course compete. If you’re a business owner and want to pass on information about your business in the form of coupons, discounts, or event sponsorship, contact the Community & Public Relations Department at 318-345-9265.
