There is a heaviness in my heart as civil unrest envelopes our nation. The killing of George Floyd has served as a flashpoint and reminds us all of the moral imperative that exists to eliminate racism and to insure justice and fair treatment for all citizens.
Our work toward becoming united as a nation and as a community must have renewed focus and our utter commitment. It is important to remember that diversity in a community and across our nation is a true asset. We are stronger as a collective than we are as a group of individuals.
Despite the gross injustices playing out across our television screens, I am hopeful that change is on the horizon. To affect this change, each of us must stand, declare, and demand equality for all so that the change we so desperately need is fully realized.
Louisiana Delta Community College embraces diversity. We understand and have witnessed the value, creativity, and productivity that has come from students, faculty, staff, and members of the communities that we serve. Every student is important to us. We are invested in their educational journey, are committed to their success, and rejoice when that success is achieved. Likewise, we are committed to having a diverse team of employees who bring their wealth of life experiences and perspectives to our campuses.
One of LDCC’s core values is its service to the community, region, state, and nation. Our service mission is broad and requires that we develop and nurture partnerships that allow us to extend educational opportunities, scholarships, internships, and interviews for our students with local business and industry. Our commitment to the success of our students in finding success, and in helping our community employers to achieve their success is unparalleled, yet requires that we again stay focused on providing equal opportunity for all. LDCC continues to provide open doors and warm reception to all who enter.
