Monroe Surgical Donates Hematology Analyzer to LDCC’s Medical Laboratory Technician Program

MONROE, LA – Louisiana Delta Community College (LDCC) proudly accepted the donation of a Horiba ABX Pentra XL 80 Hematology Analyzer from Monroe Surgical. Valued at approximately $7,000, the analyzer will significantly enhance hands-on training for students enrolled in the growing Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) program at LDCC Monroe.

The partnership was facilitated by LDCC MLT Lab Coordinator Nicole Bruce and Monroe Surgical Lab Manager Renita Benjamin, whose collaboration helped bring this important instructional resource to the program.

Currently serving 28 students, LDCC’s MLT program plays a vital role in preparing graduates to help close the regional workforce gap in medical laboratory professions. The newly donated analyzer mirrors the technology used in modern healthcare settings, giving students essential experience that strengthens their skills before entering clinical rotations.

MLT Program Director Dr. Alicia Jones expressed deep gratitude for the donation and its impact on students’ readiness for the field. “We are incredibly thankful to Monroe Surgical for this generous and meaningful gift,” said Dr. Jones. “Access to industry-standard equipment allows our students to train with confidence and step into their clinical experiences fully prepared. This donation directly supports the future of healthcare in our region, and we could not be more appreciative.”

LDCC extends its thanks to Monroe Surgical for investing in the next generation of medical laboratory professionals and supporting the college’s mission to provide high-quality, workforce-aligned education.
