Cardiac Care Technician

Course Description: The Cardiac Care Technician program is a 5-week training course that combines Nurse Aide (CNA) and Electrocardiograph (EKG) Technician instruction to prepare students for direct patient care and basic diagnostic responsibilities under licensed supervision. The program comprises 75 classroom/lab hours, as well as 40 supervised clinical hours, covering patient care, infection control, vital signs, cardiac anatomy, EKG operation, heart rhythm monitoring, and equipment maintenance. Students must complete a program-approved background check and meet all requirements set by the Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) before admission. Graduates are eligible to take both the Nurse Aide Certification Exam and an EKG Technician industry-based credential, qualifying them for employment in hospitals, clinics, and long-term care facilities.
