Fiber Technician (Corning Fiber Optic Splicing)

Course Description: 

The Corning Fiber Optic Splicing Certification (Fiber Technician) Course  is an intensive, hands-on training program that prepares participants for entry-level careers in the growing fiber broadband industry. The program blends core construction skills, safety certifications, equipment operation, and specialized fiber optic training to ensure graduates are job-ready with multiple industry-recognized credentials. During the first week, students complete the NCCER Core Curriculum, building a foundation in construction safety, math, drawings, tools, communication, and material handling. Week two focuses on workplace safety and equipment certifications, including OSHA 10, AHA Basic Life Support (CPR/AED), and NSC Forklift Operator credentials.The final two weeks center on Corning’s Fiber Broadband Technician (CFBT) certification, covering fiber optic theory, handling, cable preparation, splicing, testing, and troubleshooting. Students participate in extensive hands-on labs, culminating in a capstone project simulating a complete fiber-to-the-home (FTTx) installation. By the end of the program, participants will have earned five stackable credentials and developed the technical and professional skills needed to enter the telecommunications, construction, and broadband installation industries.

Pre-requisite:

  • Must be at least 18

Available Certifications: BLS, OSHA 10, CORE, NSC Lift Truck, and Corning Fiber Optic Splicing Certification
