Grant Programs

IWTP

Louisiana Delta Community College can provide a variety of training programs for businesses and industries in Northeast Louisiana through the Louisiana Department of Labor’s Incumbent Worker Training Program.

The Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) provides qualifying employers with grant funding to train their workforce. It is a partnership between the Louisiana Workforce Commission, business and industry, and training providers. IWTP benefits business and industry by assisting in the skill development of existing employees and thereby increasing employee productivity and growth of the company. This funding comes from the interest earned on overpayment of federal unemployment insurance and is returned to the employers who pay into the system. An employer can have a return on investment (ROI) by utilizing the IWTP grants through training that results in higher skilled and more productive employees. The IWTP Grants have historically led to the creation of new jobs, the retention of jobs that otherwise may have been eliminated, and an increase in wages for trained employees.

Who is eligible for IWTP Funds?

Any business which has operated in Louisiana AND contributed to the state’s Unemployment Insurance System for at least 3 years. Employers with at least 15 employees to be trained OR could join with other employees in a consortium for similar training. Employers who exhibit a long-range commitment to employee training.”

LDCC Workforce Development and Continuing Education extends the resources of the College to companies, organizations, and groups by providing a staff of trained professionals to assist in determining both short and long-term training needs. Small Business Employee Training (SBET)

The IWTP Small Business Employee Training Program (SBET) is designed to benefit business and industry by assisting in the skill development of existing employees through individual, standardized (off-the shelf) training. Employers are reimbursed for tuition and required textbooks and manuals once the training has been completed and proper documentation has been submitted to the Louisiana Department of Labor (LDOL). Training costs cannot exceed $3,000 per trainee per state fiscal year (July 1 – June 30). Funding is provided through the Workforce Development Training Account, at 2.3% of all IWTP funds available.

Customized Training

The Incumbent Worker Training Program (IWTP) is a partnership among the Louisiana Department of Labor (LDOL), business and industry, and training providers. The IWTP is designed to benefit business and industry by assisting in the skill development of existing employees, thereby increasing employee productivity and the growth of the company. These improvements are expected to result in the creation of new jobs, the retention of jobs that otherwise might have been eliminated, and an increase in wages for trained workers. The program is funded by a portion of Unemployment Insurance (UI) tax contributions dedicated solely for customized training.
